AL SAADI PARK
Al Saadi is a natural park design proposal located in a remote area of the UAE desert.
People often assume that plants simply cannot grow in these arid regions and when they hear the word xeriscape; a picture suddenly pops into their head of a lonely acacia tree with a bit of tumbleweed floating by, and maybe if you're very imaginative; a cactus sitting off in the distance.
Well it turns out there are plenty of species that can grow here with minimal maintenance; some are even completely self sufficient and can thrive is the heat without any human interference.
But don't they all look a bit naff?.. Not necessarily
This park is about showcasing these species and demonstrating that you can provide natural parks in the most extreme climates whilst keeping the maintenance costs very low compared to other parks in the region. It doesn't mean disregarding everything that can't survive on it's own but finding a healthy, sustainable balance between quality and budget.
