Early sketch/concept
Park View holds a very special place in the hearts and minds of VDS.
It's a short walk from our home and has been sitting vacant for decades. Countless hours were spent walking past this overgrown, neglected site and envisioning what it might become.
Over the years, nobody was interested. All they saw were limitations and constraints (too small, not enough room for a garden, where would the driveway go? awkward height difference next to the road).
But where others saw defeat, VDS saw opportunity..
Since our founding, we've always taken the view that smaller homes are the future; and they should only be as big as they need to be.
It keeps construction costs down, can be built much quicker, lowers the bills, reduces the need for maintenance and decluttering; freeing up time for more important things, and is much more sustainable.
So what if we could design a minimalist, affordable, sustainable one storey home less than 100sqm? and on top of that, provide a well sized, elegant garden and private parking?
Challenge accepted.
A bit of sketching and brainstorming later...
We've done it.
The result is this beautiful, compact, contemporary house held within an open, stunning English garden. Clean and simple in form, modern with reflections of local Cotswold stone; providing an elegant harmony between old and new, and grounding the design firmly in the Northern Somerset landscape.
